3 Ways to Create a Successful Business Sign

Keith Prichard - Friday, December 01, 2017

Signs are one of the most effective ways to bring new customers into your business. In fact, a 2014 Mass Merchant Study says, 16% of unplanned purchases were due to a display the customer noticed while shopping. The best part? These business signs can be found almost anywhere, including inside and outside of an establishment, and even around town.

But creating a truly successful business sign isn't a one and done job.

In order to have a successful sign, you need to start with a smart design plan. There are a few things you need to consider when you're planning what you want your sign to look like and how it's going to encourage new customers to make purchases.

First, you need to decide where your sign is going to be displayed. If it's going to be outdoors, you need to make sure it's big enough to read for those passing by. In addition, you need to consider what is surrounding the location where you plan to post your custom printed signs. If your sign is going to be posted on a brick wall, a brick patterned backdrop probably isn't going to help it stand out at all.

When designing your business sign, keep political signs and banners in mind. In short, you need to select your colors carefully. Your custom pop up banners should stand out, after all. Political signs and banners focus on getting someone to vote for a specific candidate while featuring the colors of the party they represent. For example, a Republican's political signs and banners may feature a lot of red. Think about what colors represent your business. If you own a yoga company, calming colors like blue and purple all over your signage can really help get your point across.

In addition, custom printed banners require you to determine an appropriate size. If you're having your signage posted inside your store, getting something smaller than what you would get if you were to post something outside would be a good idea. Just keep in mind that if you plan to post outdoor custom banners, they should be fairly large so that people can see it from a distance.

Successful signage can help contribute to a successful business, but only when it's done right. Signage is often the first thing customers see before entering your business, and it's the thing that may cause them to walk over to a product, ultimately purchasing it.
